Modesto - Stage 3 Start

The "Trademark" of Modesto. Just a little under two hours to race start. Looks like rain on and off all day. Final check of Mt. Hamilton is positive. One of the most epic days of racing in the USA is about to unfold. As a precaution, we are adding a second broom wagon today. The cutoff is 10% of the leader's time. I am sure I will have a lot to tell you, after I get into San Jose!!

Hi Eric,
Wow! What a high...This is the first time in my "adult life" I have taken vacation from work to do something "fun" for me. Truly, my vacations as far as I can remember were always to fix some problem or solve someone else problem. I got a high out of volunteering for the race at 4 different locations (Sacramento, Modesto, San Jose, and Seaside). The last position was the best...I was right up front at the start line in seaside. Thanks for the "juice" the adrenalin is still flowing.
As for Modesto I am especially jazzed by all the notables I got to meet, From the Mayor (breakfast) to the major "man" Corwin Harper (Kaiser), and all the bizz people. Wow! Talk about networking for future possibilities. Thanks AMGEN, Thanks Medalist, and Thanks fans. Eric do you have or does anyone have pics of that turnout of students that lined Las Palmas Avenue in Patterson? I got there just as the peloton was coming through and missed taking pictures. Wow! It was awesome thousands of children, what an exciting event for these kids; I hope AMGEN and the Tour people did not miss that. Adrienne did a marvelous job. Maybe a helicopter shot or two would suffice as the sprint came through, etc.
